Tech Levels

Was using GURPS TLs, do we want to move to Traveller TLs?

TL8 and before are as per standard Yags, i.e. the same as GURPS 4th.

TL Years Description
8 1980-2020 Modern day.
9 2020-2075 Limited space colonies. Big laser weapons. Rail guns.
10 2075-2150 Fusion power. Early Jump-1 drives.
11 2150-2300 Jump-1. Particle beams, early nuclear dampers.
12 2300-2500 Jump-2. Repulsors, cold fusion. Plasma weapons.
13 2500-3000 Jump-3. Fusion weapons. Meson guns.
14 3000-4000 Jump-4. Inertial dampers. Nu matter.
15 4000-6000 Jump-5. Black globes. Anti-matter beams. Artificial gravity.
16 6000-10000 Jump 6.

TL 9

Improved batteries lead to more practical smart devices. Always-on connectivity. Extension of renewable energy resources for distributed power grid. Smart agents for running everyday life. Turing Personalities in later half.

Big laser weapons are practical (nothing portable). Cybernetics, human cloning, vat-grown food and organs.

TL 10

Fusion power. Smart textiles. Smart environments are the norm.

Regeneration of most body parts. Designer babies. Full cybernetics. PDA implants, nano bots for medication. Genetically engineered vat grown food is the norm.

Efficient fusion and ion drives for space travel. Medium sized lasers and heavy particle beams.

Jump-1 comes in the latter half of this TL.

TL 11

Jump-2 drives. Full genetic engineering for humans, new human sub-species become possible. Cryo-freeze becomes cheap and reliable for long journeys. Rebuilding human bodies completely. Anti-agathics, life span a few hundred years.

Repulsor technology invented, hover vehicles start to become viable.

Full AIs possible.

Micro-nukes. Nuclear dampers.

TL 12

Jump-3 drives. Cold fusion for low power devices (phones and the like).

Effective immortality by body rebuilding. Brain taping and uploading (long, expensive and destructive process).

Repulsor vehicles pretty standard. Space travel is cheap.
