Herb Lore

Herb Lore is also dealt with in the Yagsbook section.

Herbs is a generic term to cover potions, drugs, poisons, elixirs and other chemicals.

Needs to be worked on for Wizards in Habisfern. Herb lore and alchemy will be an easy way to impress the locals. Safer than magic.

Herb Lists

A quick list of herbs and poisons, without any game stats.

  • Arsenic. White powder. Extremely toxic. Nausea, convulsions, death. Hours.
  • Cyanide. White solids, certain seeds. Incredibly toxic. Death. Minutes.
  • Strychnine. Colourless powder. Dog button plant. Incredibly toxic. Spasms, Death. Minutes.
  • Belladonna. Nightshade. Disorientation, hallucinations, convulsions, death. Hours to days.
  • Hemlock. Paralysis, death. Hours.
  • Jimsonweed. Devil's trumpet, stinkweed, thorn apple. Mania, death. Hours.

Herb Descriptions

Range from 1 (very weak) to 6 (super strong). The amount of the substance needed to have the listed effect. See Herb Lore for more details.

Method Description
Contact Any contact with the skin is enough. May be a gas.
Digested Needs to be eaten/drunk to have an effect.

Every poison has an initial strength, and a list of effects and how quickly they occur.

Most of the poisons given here are based on their descriptions in Deadly Doses, which is quite a good book for roleplayers as well as authors (it's aimed at murder mystery authors).
