Sandcasters fire a large cloud of reflective/absorbative particles that soak up and deflect beam weapons, reducing the damage done to the ship. Requires the Spaceship gunnery (Sandcaster) skill to use effectively.

A Sandcaster is a small turreted weapon, and first came into use during TL9. It has a magazine capacity, and each shot is effective for a single turn against a single target (alternatively, if running combat as a wargame, it can create a 1” diameter zone, and any shots fired through this zone are effected).

Sandcasters affect both incoming and outgoing fire.

When using a sandcaster, the operator uses Perception x Spaceship gunnery. If they don't have the Sandcaster technique, then they can't achieve any more than a standard success.
